We're a small Vermont publisher dedicated to bringing the best of the world of words to children. We've developed a different paradigm to choose our books. It's simple, but it's simply not done by most of the big publishing houses. We take our manuscripts to the kids. We work with teachers and their students, and we work with individual children. Kids hear and read our stories before manuscripts become books. We ask the kids what they like and what they don't like ... and why. If a manuscript doesn't pass muster with the kids, we don't publish it.  It's as simple as that.

We believe that by asking for the consumer's opinion, we get a better product. But there's something else happening here too. The kids we work with get to hone their skills in two very important learning areas - creative and critical thinking. The old belief that children will listen to anything an adult reads to them ... even the phone book ... is no longer true. By the time today's media immersed children enter kindergarten, they have had years of story experience. Kids know a good story when they hear it. They know when a good story is true to the heart. At My Little Jessie Press we're simply listening to what they have to say.
